The Contented Kingdom.

Updated: Feb 7, 2023

Welcome to the official blog for the upcoming fantasy film, Man & Witch: The Dance of a Thousand Steps!

Now that post production is complete, the Paper Canoe Studio team finally has more time to turn its attention to chronicling the journey of the movie from the page to a theater - we hope - near you.

A reclusive Witch in a magic kingdom strikes a bargain to help a lonely Goatherd break an Evil Wizard’s curse and finally take a wife. But when against all odds the man completes her three impossible tasks, and earns the hand of the Contented Kingdom’s perfect Princess, the Witch and the Goatherd are destined to discover that there is one thing even harder to conquer than the curses of an Evil Wizard. True Love.

Man & Witch stars Tami Stronach, Greg Steinbruner, Sean Astin, Christopher Lloyd, Eddie Izzard, Daniel Portman, Michael Emerson, Bill Bailey, Jennifer Saunders and academy award nominee Shohreh Aghdashloo. It is directed Michael Hines, the director of the popular Scottish sit-com, 'Still Game.'

We'll be experimenting with different kinds of posts for the blog: actor features, behind the scenes glimpses, and perhaps some interviews with cast and the creative people who brought the Contented Kingdom to life.

Unlike most big Hollywood blockbusters with massive budgets and huge marketing plans, this independent production would like to try something new. We want to grow the Contented Kingdom from the ground up, engaging fans and supporters directly all over the world not with adds and slick campaigns, but with real conversations and real interactions with the creative team who made the film. Because we didn't make the film for Hollywood. We made it for you.

If you've ever wondered how a movie finds its way from an idea to the screen, and if you've ever wanted a back stage seat on a movie set where something magical was being created, you've come to the right place.

We're happy to answer questions here, so leave them in the comments, or simply share your encouragement and excitement with us.
